“I’m beginning to wonder if the problem is my job or if it’s actually me.” —something a client of mine wondered aloud.
It’s a good question. And one you may want to ask yourself.
The truth is, for many people it’s a combination of both — a job (or boss) that doesn’t quite fit and some of the behaviors you bring to your job. Specifically, some behaviors around boundaries.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed and overworked, it’s worth examining your boundaries before you bail on your existing job for a new one.
Why? Because if you have some bad boundary habits you’ll likely bring them to a new job.
And then 6 months or a year from now you’ll wonder why you’re burned out again.
Here’s a 4-minute video with some concrete tips for experimenting with boundaries at work. Plus, learn when it's the best time to set boundaries in your career.
